Anchor Cross - Cultural Missions Training.
Anchor adheres and holds to the following doctrinal positions as it’s statement of faith.
Article I: The Doctrine of Scripture
We believe that all of scripture as a whole is given by inspiration of God, by which one understands that God without detracting from the human author’s intelligence, individuality, writing style or personal feelings, supernaturally directed the writing of scripture so that they wrote exactly what he wanted to be written (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21), therefore the whole of the Bible in its original manuscript is without error cf. Titus 1:2; Matt 5:17-18; John 10: 34-35, and is a completed book (Rev 22:18-19). We as a result believe that all of written scripture is the believers final authority, it is clear (able to be understood), necessary (for knowing the gospel, maintaining spiritual life, and for knowing God’s will) cf. Rom 10:13-17; Matt 4:4, and fully sufficient (containing all the words we need for salvation, for trusting him perfectly, and for obeying him perfectly) cf.2 Tim 3:16-17.
Article II: Doctrine of the Godhead – Trinity
We believe that God is one God (one in essence) who subsists in three distinct persons: God the Father (1 Cor. 8:6); God the Son (Heb. 1:8; John 1:1); and God the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:3-4), and the three share in that one essence, (cf. Deut 6:4; Is 45:5-6; Matthew 3:16-17), in such a way that the whole divine essence of God belongs equally and eternally to each of the three persons (Matt 28:19; John 14:16-17, 26).
Article III: Christology – The Person of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God Incarnate. The Second Person of the Trinity who became truly human through the miraculous conception of a Virgin Birth (Is. 7:14; Matt 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-38), yet remained sinless (Jn. 1:1, 14; Phil 2:5-8; Heb 2:14). Christ humbled himself by taking on the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men, and becoming obedient to the point of death on a cross (Phil 2:6-8). His death was: a substitutionary sacrifice (cf. 2 Cor. 5:21; Gal 3:13), redemptive (cf. Rom 3:24; Gal 4:4-5; 1 Pet 1:18-19), propriatory (he completely satisfied the just demands of a holy God for the judgment of sin cf. Rom 3:25; I Jn. 2:2; 4:10), reconciliatory (changed sufficiently the relationship between God and sinful man cf. Rom 5:10-11; 2 Cor. 5:18-20; Col 1:20-22), and his death was expiatory (secured the complete removal of sin cf. Heb 10:11-14). However, Christ not only died, but resurrected (cf. 1 Cor. 15:4-8; Luke 24:36-43; Jn. 20:27), and ascended to heaven to the Father’s right hand (Acts 1:1-3, 9-11), where He now dwells as the Head of the Church (Matt 16:18, I Cor. 12:13), and intercedes for believer’s as High Priest (Heb 4:14-16; 7: 25), awaiting His future personal return in Power and Glory (Lk.1:32-33; Jn 14:1-6; 1Thess.4-5; 2Thess.2:1-12 cf. Zech.14
Article IV The Doctrine of the HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the HOLY SPIRIT is God. He is the third Person of the Godhead and indwells every believer upon conversion, and enables the believer to live a holy victorious life; to witness in power (Act 1:8); and to work for the Lord Jesus Christ (Act. 5:3-4; Matt.28:19). He is active in the regeneration and salvation work of convicting the sinner with regard to sin, righteousness, and judgment (Jn.16: 8-11)
Article V: The Doctrine of Man
We believe and adhere that man was created in the image of God (imago Dei) and sinless. By choice man rebelled against God and fell out of favor into sin, consequently all have sinned (Rom 3:23), and deserve to die (Rom 6:23), but God has graciously and mercifully provided salvation to all, as a free gift to be appropriated by faith in Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8-9; Rom 10:9-10, 13), who shed His blood for our sin (1 Pet 3:18-19; 2Cor.5).
Article VI: The Doctrine of the Church
We believe that all believers in Jesus Christ are ONE BODY, the Church of which Christ Jesus is the Head (1Cor.12:13; Eph.2:14-22).
Article VII: Doctrine of Satan and Fallen Angels
We believe that even though all angels were created by God and were good, gentle, meek, kind, and compassionate, some of the angels led by Lucifer rebelled against God and sinned through pride, therefore God cast them out of his presence, and they became fallen angels (Ezekiel 28:11-19; Isa 14:12 – 17). Satan’s rule over the present world order (2 Cor 4:4) is only temporal. Christ’s death on the cross assured Satan’s judgment (John 12:31), and his judgment will be completed in the future (Rev 20:10).
Article VIII: Doctrine of Bodily Resurrection
We believe that Christ has conquered death through His resurrection cf. 1 Cor. 15:21; therefore for the believer death no longer has the dread or terror which it has for all others cf. 1 Cor. 15:55-57. The resurrection is always concerned with the body (cf. Isaiah 26:19; Rom 8:23; Phil 3:21) and therefore concerns everyone (believers and unbelievers) cf. Acts 24:15; John 5: 28-29; 1 Cor. 15:20-24. We also believe that there are two judgments: The Judgment Seat of Christ for believers (Rom 14:10; 1 Cor. 3:11-15; 2 Cor. 5:10) to examine their works, as it is concerned with rewards not eternal destiny; and The Great White throne Judgment for the unbelievers (Rev 20:11-15), in which every human being will be brought before the Creator, the individual’s life is reviewed, and his or her eternal destiny is decreed.
